I can say that based on the surveys I gathered from the Internet, working from home is in demand nowadays. The fact that you don't need to commute, you don't need to hurry from work and you don't have to be late is one of the sole advantages of work from home.

In this post, I'm going to share with you the advantages and the disadvantages of working at home. It may not be easy for some, but I know for some they can cope up with this.

The 5 Advantages of Working at Home.

For 5 years of working as a call center agent, I can tell that it takes 30 minutes for me to get to the office and sometimes I'm late because of traffic during weekdays. And it's awful when you see your payslip had a deduction of your late even a second late is still counting. It's not fun at all.

1. You have all the time in the world.

This is very simple job. Of course, if you work at home, you can have your time. Whether you are a Freelance, a Full time or a Part-time. You can do things in your own time. Since nobody can see you, you can eat in front of your computer, have a hot coffee beside it, you can attend to your kids. So, you can still be able to be with yourself.

2. Extend your Family Ties.

Aside from not going outside, you can reach out to your Family and be with them any time of the day. While some task is not a time consuming, you can play with your kids, take care of your husband, or even you can play with your pet. Your kids will be comfortable seeing you every day because you still have time for them.

3. No issue of commuting.

When I was working in a call center way back 2008 to 2013. I have this big issue when it comes to working. Since our office is far from where I live, it will take 30 to 45 minutes for me to come to work. That includes the traffic every morning. I have a day shift before.

While if you are working at home, you don't need to hurry yourself to go to the office. You can still limit the time when will you be able to start your task, and if you are full-time worker then it will not be difficult for you because most working hours is during the night. You can still watch movies online.

4. Work with your own style.

What I'm trying to extend here is, you don't need to wear casual office attire or wear makeup for work. You can be just yourself by wearing on your pajama. Except for, you know weekly meeting with your boss. That's excluded of course.

5. Be yourself.

Here is you need to be confident about doing your task. You don't need to cram working for a solution or you don't need to panic because you did not get the task your Boss wants you to do. Being confident enough will make you think of a better way to do your tasks. It will make your mind clear of the things your work is having. Just be yourself.

The 5 Disadvantages of Working at Home.

Here we are going to talk about the downside of Working at Home.

1. The noise around the corner.

I live in a place where most of the houses are stick together. So if you think about it, that means it's very noisy. So, if you’d like to choose to work at home, be sure that the place where you want to work is not near the alley or near the street. You cannot focus on that. Don't choose a job where you can call your clients or a Teaching job.

2. Power Interruption.

This is common since Summer is coming, especially if you are in a tropical country like the Philippines. Most of the time power interruption is everywhere.

3. You get fat/Self Discipline

Don't get me wrong about this though. Since you are working from home, you don't have time to walk around and when you are busy or stress with your task the tendency is you will eat a lot. Since food is our comfort.

Self-discipline is also a disadvantage why? Because since you are working at home, you don't have time for yourself. You need to work, finish the task and after finishing the task you end up attending to your Family. That will stress you out.

4. Office Equipment

Like me, I'm a beginner and I don't have any equipment need for working at home, some of the types of equipment are Printer, A Xerox machine, or even a VPN phone line.

5. Concentration

Since your focus is at work, sometimes you will lose concentration, especially if one of your kids is sick or your husband needs to iron his clothes. That can change the fact that the main issue why you are working at home because you can work and at the same time attend to the need of your Family. Concentration sometimes will lose its focus.

So that's basically it. This is based on the knowledge I know if you are working at home.
